For the past couple of years since Covid, my extended family and some friends have gotten together for our own church service.  Today we met at a grandson’s house, starting with a potluck brunch at 10:00, or at least we wander in at 10.

Grandsons Code and Zay went deer hunting this morning and at 9:15 Zay killed a blacktail buck with his bow.  He shot it at 20 yards from a treestand he and Code had set up two days ago.  The buck followed a scent trail they had made in front of the stand and Zay shot him behind the last rib angling forward after the buck passed.  2X3 with a pretty rack and good sized body, a 3 ½ year old.

The boys brought the buck by our church service a couple of miles away, so we could see it and they could grab some food.  They took the buck another mile to hang it in a shed, and Zay came back half way through the service.

Same buck below showing what putting antlers close to the camera can do!  Code is the photographer.
