I was hunting in Ohio today and I saw this deer......... :shock2:
I could not believe the amount of spots this thing still has................

Yep!! We had quite a few late bred does this past fall it seems. The last spotted fawn I've seen up here was just 2 weeks ago.
I wish I had better light to take this pic......those spots were not faded at all.....It was cool to,,, I had my 5 year old nephew with me when I took this pic......
I have been seeing all sizes of fawns here lately
Seems more so this year then in the past
Thanks for sharing Al
I saw one with spots running around my friends pasture just yesterday. They did come late this year huh?
sounds like the coyotes will be well fed this fall/winter. Wonder if that means we'll have a mild winter ?
:wo: Guess the cats out of the bag for what bait will work best on winter yotes here.
I look for a hard winter......Never can tell though...

I always look for a nice winter..... and then usually get slapped upside the head :doh2:
We need a good hard winter to thin out the bugs as they are worse than I have ever seen.....I could be wrong but all the sign I see shows we are due for a bad one......I wont say what signs as most of it is considered old wise tales anyway...time will tell.
Come on with the wives tales as I believe all of them came from some observations by people who actually went outside.
Wooly worm....
This is what I was told since I was a kid.....others will say it is wrong......
All black......Bad winter
All brown .......mild winter
Mix...Balck and brown .....Normal winter
White......Your looking at the wrong worm
I have seen a couple of black ones......and a white one :laf:
The browse line is low and thick this year so the deer have plenty to eat.......Pap always said when this happens winter will be hard for all.......Then he would say....better make some axe handles so we can sell them later.
Watch the wild apples......next to none......winter has won
If the apples are a lot......the snow will not
Thanks Al. I believe the worm and we don't have them. The browse one could have some merit as well because nature seems to be able to plan ahead for the next season or two. Building axe handles would always be a good idea and as a father giving his son something to do, perfect :yoyo:. I don't got wild apples either so don't that one.
Up here the natives say, "gonna be a cold winter cause the white guy has a big pile of wood". :doh2:
