Title: FnF Wireless / Mobi?
Post by: FinsnFur on October 23, 2009, 10:54:20 PM
Hey 5shots.
My youngest daughter got one of those new Nintendo hand helds (Nintendo DSi) for her Birthday from her mother last week.
I picked her up tonight and she's telling me she can get on the internet with this thing.

I can remember when these things were good for nothing but a lil afternoon DonkeyKong.
(ohh boy that didnt sound right)

Decide to pay a visit to the forum, and it loads right up

I had to take a gander at the who's online and see what it was listing, and it shows another instance of my IP address using opera as a guest.
Kinda weird. Can you use Opera as a browser on your mobile phone?

And the forums were loading in a text form only on it?

Yes. It was a mobile beta version that I got for free. Since IE mobile loaded it via text, I thought that Opera might load it HTML. It didn't but I am not whatcha call real computer savvy, so it may have been a setting on the phone. I dunno, but...other sites loaded HTML.

So that puts it back on SMF's shoulders. Try another SMF site to verify it. http://www.simplemachines.org/community/

Maybe this Nintendo thingy has got something the phones dont?

I don''t have the phone anymore, I have a motorola flip phone. I'll try to swing in to ATT in the next few days and try out a couple different ones. I can also steel my boss' Blackberry for a while and try it.

When I used my phone the forums looked pretty much the same as it does here  but I had a few more buttons to click like Move up, Move down, and a lot of clicking the down key to get through a single page. Thought my thumb was gonna fall off. Move your cursor over the page and see how many different things you are able to click on. On my phone the curser moved from one to the next all the way down. :doh2:

I checked ole FNF out on the wifes iphone the other day, and it was business as usual, but a bit taxing on the eyes and fingers.  :iroll:
