I'm going out tomorrow AM looking to make some GOOD crows out of LIVE ones!!!! :yoyo: :yoyo: I sure hope I have some pics for y'all this time!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Good luck out there HaMeR. I saw a flock of crows yesterday and I ain't never seen them here this late before. One of the wierdest weather years I've lived through.
My sixth sense tells me he's downloading pics from his camera as you read this. :eyebrow:
Thanks Barry!! This is kinda late for em to be that far North. Bust all you can!!
You're sick sixth sense was close Jimbo!! :eyebrownod: :laf: :laf:
Well as you all know I decided to go after the Black Bandits today. I sat in a tree/brush line between a cut soybean field & a hay field. I was facing the bean field where I have permission. I got setup with 5 decoys, the FX3 & two hand calls. I hand called for a while to no avail. They would call back but not respond. I think it was the fog. So I decided to use the FX3. I can get busier sounds from it. That was the ticket. Now they could locate my setup from the audio. The only other problem was I was by myself & they were coming from every direction. It's tough to bust em when they appear at 30yds out of no where. I managed to make some GOOD crows out of live ones tho.
The sun rising.

Flat?? :laf: :laf: We're in the outer edges of the Appalachian Mtn's foothills Barry. We have a nice mixture of flat/hilly ground with as much as 900' of elevation change. Here is another pic from out where I groundhog hunt.

The standard crow setup here is set out the e-caller & decoys in a field about 30yds & get hid in the brush real good. We're always shooting thru the trees too. I need to get some pics of the shot angles that are presented some time.
Thanks for nice words Barry!!
Glen,
Anytime you can get one crow it is a good day. Nine makes it really good.

Thanks guys. I doubt there's anything more fun for me than crow hunting. Well,, spring Gobblers I guess. :innocentwhistle: :laf:
That is a purdy nice picture Barry. I'm sure the same pic from the winter is on here too. :yoyo:
CCP-- That looks like a good place to me. Altho we don't like to setup unless we have at least 100 birds to work. Looks like only about 80 or so there. :innocentwhistle: And the Date stamp on that pic is :roflmao: :roflmao:!!
Sounds like a good day Glen....Wish I were there so I could show ya how not to shoot..... :laf: :laf: I only hit about 30% last time out but we were in the thick stuff and running and gunning.......but they are starting to flock now. :eyebrow:
It was Al. You're Welcome anytime too. We would have a blast bustin them bandits.
great job Glen, 9 of them bandits :yoyo:
Thanks Vic!! There shoulda been more tho. :laf: Maybe next time I'll clear the brush out a little better & have some better shooting lanes. :innocentwhistle:
No crows this AM. I decided to quit when the decoys started rolling over. :laf: :laf:
I have every intention of giving em hell in the AM again!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
This is getting a little old Glen :iroll: You gonna bring us some dead crows or not? :laf:
crow hunting is a blast good job :yoyo:
Thanks Dave.
I gave em all kinds a hell this AM Jimbo!!! :yoyo: You woulda been proud of me the way I cussed every one that came in 100yds above the deck!! At 1st I was like . Then I went into  WTH!!! After about 1/2 an hour I realized the problem. That was when I came to the conclusion there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. :rolleye: The hill a 1/2 mile away was shading the field I was set up in. The crows came thru high & went over the hill to feed in the sun. Around 8 AM they started coming from all angles a couple at a time. :yoyo: Just the way I like it. That was when I really got :argh: !! I killed two limbs on the tree overhead on easy shots. :roflmao: Then I promptly missed the next 2 wide open shots. :mad3: A few minutes later 3 came in & only 2 left this time. :eyebrow:
THE END!!
Yer just gonna have to meet up with me somewhere after deer season and I will show ya how to miss them black bandits..... :laf: :laf:
Missin aint a problem Al!! :nono: :nono:
I'm proud of ya anyway, mainly cause you got out there and I didn't.
I did get all my fishing poles out of the trucks and hung back up in the garage for the season though. :eyebrow:
hey it's a step in the right direction.
Yes I did & Thank You. I still had fun. It aint always about the killing. :nono:

Found a few crows this AM. I'm gonna get a blind ready tomorrow AM & hit it Friday before the Orange Army invades for the weekend. Not a lot of birds but enough to set up on with 1 gun for a couple hours. I gotta do something. I'm running out of Crozac here. :loco: I hope to start a December crows thread. :laf:
Anybody else out after them other than Frogman & Jon??
Gonna start back up on em Glen, all the ponds and swamps are frozen over, ducks are on the River but I wouldnt step foot in that thing right now its so dang high, so crow it's gonna be soon :yoyo:
