Well, Aaron and just got back from hunting outside Gonzales this weekend. Saw a few decent young bucks, but passed as Aaron was holding out for a nice mature deer. His patience paid off as we got on a BIG mature 8 point buck this morning!

My boy is pumped as this is the biggest WT deer he's killed. He'll drop in sometime during the week to post up his hunt report and make his entry in the big buck contest.

I had to lean into him and support him a bit as he was holding his rifle up and shaking a bit. grin
He lowered his rifle, took a few deep breaths and exhaled slowly.... then got back on that buck and smoked him!

Approx. 60 yards out broadside. Shooting his trusty .250 Savage stoked with 100gr. Super-X Silvertips. Hit him right behind the crease in the shoulder. Bullet took out the lungs and clipped the heart. Bullet was found under the hide on the off side. Buck ran less than 30 yards before piling up.

He tripped the scale at 185 pounds on the hoof, and we gross scored him at 137 7/8
