Al, I really like the way your doing those deer calls, like the three in that pic. Its like the laminate is perfectly placed for that style and they seem to have the old school nostalgic look to them. Kinda like they are older collector calls. Very nice.
The acorn is a good idea, seems to be a hit miss for my personal taste in size, shape and wood combos, but I like what your doing. I like the shape and size of the third one down, and think the wood combos for the ones ya have up are great. (What most folks don't know is I kinda collect Squirrel calls on the side when I'm not over whelmed with predator calls. I don't think I have a custom yet but you and Dave have got me on the edge. :biggrin:)
The shotgun shell squirrel call is nicely done too. Almost looks purple heart in the pic?

Todd: That is not a laminate on the deer calls it is just a section that I did not ebonize.......
I hope after about 50 more calls I can get caught up enough to sell some to the folks on here again.
I have been in the shop sometimes 10 hrs. a day and I have not posted even a 1/4 of what I have made. I have been working on some new ideas also but with Christmas coming I had to put the new Ideas on the back burner for a time.
The calls in the pick are half of one persons order for Christmas.....I need to find some more burl wood..... :whew:

White Vinegar and Steel wool ....allow it to rust in a jar for a week or so......rubbing this on the bare wood brings the Iron to the surface.....and in a dark wood like Walnut it turns Black.......In the locust it turns dark Brown......on some lighter colored woods it turns Gray.
Your right by the way.......the shotgun shell is Purple heart. :wink:
