Title: I think He was misinformed
Post by: Bills Custom Calls on November 11, 2009, 08:27:20 PM
A younger feller at work was talking coyotes with me today and he told me the local Game Warden was telling him
Coyotes only run in pairs not packs
They will not attack a dog bigger then one of them ankle bitters
They will not attack a full grown deer
This made me kinda upset cause this is the Game Warden of the County I live in
I told him he better come on over to finsandfur.net and do some reading and ask some of the more knowledgeable folks on this board

I have found that second hand info (or third hand) is unreliable at best.  I would talk directly to the CO and see what his real thoughts are.   :wink:

The Tusc Co GW is not one of the better law enforcement officials in this State. HIS interpretation of the laws are not the same as they are written. He told me we need written permission to hunt private land. Which is almost completely true. The State requires we have written permission on our person while hunting private land. It however DOES NOT require us to renew it every year like our GW states. The State recommends that we check with the LO every year to make sure property ownership & property lines are still the same. He also tried to tell us we could NOT use electronic calls for crow hunting.  :rolleye:

Semp so what you are saying is This young feller could have mis understood the chat he had with the Game Warden and he shouldn't have discussed it with me at all  :confused: to get my veiw on coyote hunting or even to clarify what he thought he understood

Some of the info on the boards could be 2nd or even 3rd hand info and it is there for the whole world to use as info so that could be wrong also

Maybe I don't understand your post  :shrug:

Yes, that is what I am saying.  Sometimes what we hear is not what was meant.  And then it gets further mixed up in the translation.   :eyebrownod:

No, that is NOT what I meant.  It was a GOOD thing that he talked to you to try and understand what he thought he heard.   ;yes;

Yes, lots of stuff could be wrong with 2nd and 3rd hand info.  Maybe not all of it but some of it.  Trying to figure out what is right and what is wrong is a challenge sometimes.   :laf:

I hope that clears up what I meant, Bill.   When someone says "He said" or "She said" so and so.  I like to go to He or She and find out first hand for myself what was said and what was meant by it.   Usually you will get a different tune than the 2nd or 3rd hand one you were told.   :eyebrownod:

Hey , I had a biologist tell me tey don't hunt as groups or kill adult deer and me standing on the evidence, it boggled his mind that what they thought they knew was wrong. If his CO is getting the same info then he too is just behind in understanding an animal that is evolving right in front of us.

Our colors here were mentioned in another post.Heck we don't know what DNA these animals may have for certain in the east  or what diferences there may be in diferent areas of the east. eredity plays a role in how aniumals behave just as does the environment they are raisedin.

So the key thin here is the evolution of a species.  How do weall keep up ? Jimmie
