Title: Another Box call
Post by: timbertoes on November 23, 2009, 03:51:32 PM
Has "fiddleback" Anigre sound boards....except the fiddleback all but dissapeared. dambit!!
Sound is fair. Still learning how to tune. I bought several paddles of different woods, from shipley sawing. I use those to help find if the calls likes a harder vs softer paddle wood
Also got my replacment paddle router bit...after ungodly amount of emails and screaming. long story..original $150 bit was made backwards..
new one works very well, most happy, a bit scary to use, it aint small!

I put a little white stone on the end of the Paddle. Used to do that on my predator calls years ago.

So far I have put on a sealer coat of Dewaxed Blonde Shellac. Guess I will finish the Bocote with a outdoor poly coat.

Nice looking call. I really like that style. Hope you get it tuned the way you want it.

Try a coarse sand paper on the friction side of the lid......Like 50 grit.
And it looks like your spring size is a little long.....Causing the board to tilt to the rear...should be toward the middle.

I hope this helps ya as it is a nice looking call........ :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo:

thanks for the sandpaper tip :)  very much!

the spring/paddle is not adjusted, or it would be more compressed.  Just finished with the Shellac (dry) and put it together for a pic, before heading in to work!  (good eye picking that out)  :eyebrownod:

I love a good spokeshave.  But I also like how fast the router works!

Hey for enough $$$ I bet Lie-Nielson would make you a custom spokeshave  :)
