she has been treated twice in the last 5 weeks for an ear infection.
once with augmentin and once with omniceft.
after finishing the augmentin..3 weeks later she had another infection in her right ear,the same one as before.
i took her back on nov 10 and she still had an infection so they gave her omniceft, 10 days.
on nov 23, 2 days after finishing that medicine she had a temp of 103.0.
i took her in today to see the dr and now she has infections in both ears despite finishing all her med.
they put her on a high priced/high powered, antibiotic today...clindamycin...for 10 days(its for antibiotic resistent bacteria infections...its even what they use to treat malaria, scary, huh?) and are referring her to an ear nose and throat specialist, saying she needs tubes in her ears .
please pray for her, shes got some rough times ahead of her.
We'll keep her in our prayers for a fast recovery.
Prayers from our family to yours ............
Poor kid . Get well wish's and our future thoughts from Canada.
We'll say a prayer, the tubes arent bad, my oldest had them put in for the same reason and everything cleared right up. They fell out on their own years later. Clindy is a very good anitbiotic, make sure she stays hydrated taking it.
cathryn,
Same here, my oldest son had them too. Just like Silencer said, no problem, they really cleared up all his ear problems, and they fell out by themselves. The eardrum then heals over. Sounds like Alexys needs them! Save her a lot of discomfort and Mom a lot of worrying.

Yes, praying for her. I hate for little ones to suffer ear pain.
As tough as she is, she's gonna be pull through this like it never even happened and then be bragging about how easy it was.
I feel like I know her too good.
Tubes sound like the answer though. I had one of three get them and everything went flawlessly.
Prayers from the Smith house for you and your family Cat. Like others have said, tubes aren't all that bad. My nephew had them.
We'll be keeping your little one in our prayers.
thanks alot for your thoughts and prayers and all the info.
ive heard of tubes having to be put into kids ears but havent had any firsthand experience with them so when she said it it was pretty scary.
ya'lls comments make me feel alot better.
thanks again ya'll i really mean it.
I was more frightened than the boy, the worst part of the deal is they have to knock them out to do it like a surgery and you cant be in there when its done. Didnt take long at all and was beside him recovering. He was a hoot recovering from that stuff... lol
i didnt know theyd have to put her under.
yeah, they put em under, but it's to make the process easier for everyone. And it's done before you get back to the waiting room....well practically.
And then they come wheelin out and it's ice cream time :yoyo: :thumb2: :yahoo: ;yes;
Poor little kid.
Sure to be praying for her.
