Title: question
Post by: 220swift on November 26, 2009, 08:20:28 AM
I"m fixing to reload some 223 ammo for my son in law"s AR. Do I need to buy the small based dies for it. I"ve never loaded any for the AR but I have for the semi auto 30-06 and used small based dies and they worked great.

I would use small base dies. They are made for levers and autos. You might get by with the regular dies but one sticky brass can ruin a whole day.

I have a set of Lee dies, "To be exeact it is the Lee deluxe set" for my AR in 223rem and have never had a problem as long as I full length size them. Which I do for all my autos or for any caliber that may be fired in more than one firearm,
