Title: Waterfalls on backroads
Post by: Okanagan on December 02, 2009, 08:33:04 PM
Sunday afternoon I went for a drive mainly to check out a road I'd never been up, with a deer rifle along since season is open.   It was pouring rain, sloppy mud on the road,  and I passed half a dozen big waterfalls, one of them 150 feet high, not wanting to get out in the rain and mud to take a picture.  Finally I decided I should take pics for my wife to see, so took several till it got too dark.  I did one stop to make a calling stand for a blacktail buck in rain on sloppy snow, unsuccessfully.  Snow was too deep to make it on through over the top so I had to turn around and come back down the road in the dark.

80 foot high waterfall below.  Nothing in it to show perspective I realized later.  All pics taken from the road, as many as possible from inside my vehicle!

Clear water of a creek below, tinged a little by rain, ideal for fishing steelhead.  I thought the rocks showing all the way across the bottom was interesting.  Not sure the name of this creek.

Raining hard as I took a photo from inside the rig stopped on a bridge over a side creek

One of several rock slots and gorges on the main creek  It is 150 yards  from camera to the upper falls, which is at least 30 feet high.  Big volume of water.  Did I mention that it rains a lot to supply this much water?

Zoom in closeup of the upper falls in photo above.  Light is starting to go, slow shutter and blurry photos.

Those are beautiful. I think the last time I saw an actual waterfall was 27 years ago. Took a paid trip to Hawaii to visit my grandparents...and I'm sure they were nothing compared to whats up your way.
Thanks for sharing them.

Those are some nice pictures. I like waterfalls too. Went to Niagara Falls twice. Once with each Wife.  :innocentwhistle:  :roflmao: Stood there thinking "I wonder what this place looked like BEFORE the white man trampled the grass into concrete??" It's still a sight to behold.
