Big fight this weekend, BJ Penn versus Diego Sanchez.....should be a barn burner...anyone see the Anderson Silva/Forrest Griffith fight...Silva just toyed with him and knocked him OUT !

Griffin / Silva is from way back from UFC 101, you must be watching the best of 2009 tonight.

Penn / Sanchez  :laf: I'm rooting for Snachez but I dont see him pulling through for me. :sad:

I am betting on sanchez.  bj penn is to dang cocky.  in fact I can't stand the little sob.

<hijack in progress>   Any of y'all see the movie The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke?   Sure brought back some memories of the old time wrestlers like Dick the Bruiser, The Shiek, Gorgeous George, Killer Kowalski, Andre the Giant, etc.

The movie The Wrestler  is about a fading wrestling star, Randy the Ram,  and his realization that he is at the end of the road and all alone.  Rourke got nominated for an Academy award.  It was a big comeback movie for him.

The old time wrestlers were all about the show.  Chairs, beer cans, jumping from the top rope, etc.  You always knew it was a big act and the crowd was part of it.  Its what gave rise to the WWF and WWE.

Sounds like an interesting story. Reminds me of Million Dollar Baby.
But I just can't get into the WWE or the WWF. It's too much like cartoons.

I can't figure out how anyone can continue watching the WWE or WWF now that there is REAL fights to watch (UFC). The UFC has wised up around here. They used to show it all for free on Spike or Versus, but now they only show the old fights and the ultimate fighter stuff for free. I did see Macita's first title defense last night. Looked to me like the other guy won, but they gave it to Machita.
