Title: Not your standard lanyard groove...
Post by: Coulter on December 15, 2009, 07:18:45 PM
A customer up in Michigan asked me to do a set of calls that included a snowshoe distress call. I didn't want to just throw a reed into one of my other calls so I decided to make a new design for it. Here is the prototype made from osage and blackwood. I decided to forgo the standard lanyard grooves and went with something a bit different. If anybody is interested this one is up for grabs $30 tyd.

As I mentioned the above call is the prototype, but I like the design so I will be making more in the future. I don't even have a name for it yet.  :wo: Here is a picture of my customers (incomplete) set of calls. I still need to make a P-Bomb to finish out the set and sand the toneboard of the crow call. He requested cocobolo with sapwood in all of the calls.

Thanks for looking...
Steve

I like it.
Not your typical, is right. In fact it's just the opposite.

Very nice, all of them :congrats:

Thanks guys!

Glen...My 8 year old son has been pestering me to make him a pen since summer. I have recently made a couple of feeble attempts but have not had any success yet. I may be pestering you for some advise on pens in the near future. On a better note...I have been prying him away from the boob-tube the past few nights and making him help out in the shop. I have let him help drill a few blanks and help out with other easy stuff to earn Christmas money to buy gifts. He wants to make a call on his own now. This could get interesting :wo:

Just holler!!  :yoyo:  I hope your boy takes a liking to woodworking. I find it as relaxing as hunting & taking a nap in the afternoon.

I've never been fast enough to grab one of your calls so I'll take it Steve.   ;yes;
Besides, I love Blackwood  & Hedgeapple!

That is awesome you got your boy in the shop.  Years later he'll be so glad you pulled him away from the boob tube & made him go to the shop to work.

Gotta go & send ya a pm.

I'll get the call boxed up for you vvarmitr...Thank you sir. I don't post up a lot of calls for sale on here any more. But I know of a few more that may become available soon. Stay tuned :innocentwhistle:

Glenn...I'll give a ya holler when I get around to making another attempt on the pen. I hope I can get my son interested in something other than TV and video games too. I'm gonna have to start dragging him out to the woods with me until he realizes what he is missing. He used to love being out there when he was little.

And thank you Al and Pat...
Steve

Well, I for sure would have pounced on it myself if'n I'd been around, but my collecting philosophy is, "You can't have them all, because if ya could collecting just would be any fun."

Still a very nice grab for ya. Any call of Steves is a bonus call in my book.  :congrats:
