Talked to Chet just a little bit ago and it's not too good of news. I had tried to get in touch with him today and come to find out he's been in the E.R. since around noon my time.
The best I can tell, he was at work and fell off a ladder knocking himself out and shattering his shoulder blade. The blade is shattered clean through in several parts all where the muscle and connective tissue come into the rotator cuff. He will be out of work for at least 6 to 8 weeks and may need a pretty radical surgery to fix it.
He can't move his arm at all, just his wrist and hand. Lot of pain too.
It's not looking good fellas, so please keep Chet in your thoughts and prayers.
He wanted me to just "tell the boys I won't be on the boards for awhile" and leave it at that. I reckon you boys would be a good bunch to be pulling for him, so I decided to tell you what happened.
Don't know what the LBL hunt looks like now either. Just take each day as it comes I reckon.
Prayers sent straight away........ Please keep us updated....... I know if any good comes from this Chet will find it....hang in there buddy.
Dang, that's rough !! Sorry to hear that !
We'll be sayin a prayer for a full, and speedy as possible recovery.
Tell him to get better as time allows. That dang gravity gets a lot of folks.
Prayers sent from this end.
Hang in there buddy.
Shoulder injuries can be down right painfull.
That is bad news. I'll be praying for him too.
Pat

I am really sorry to hear this news and will keep you in my prayers, but it could have been worse. Do what others have said and take care of yourself so that you can get back to keeping an eye on Bop. Everything will keep running around here.

You DO KNOW that top rung is not meant as a step dont you?
Bop can you run over there and get us some cheap cell phone pics of Chet typing like a one armed bandit?
Good luck Chet. Hope you heal up real soon.
Nelson
Are you kidding me Champion? :holdon:
As soon as those oxycodones wear off, he's gonna be growly.
Think I'd rather try to scratch a bobcat's rear with barbed wire than bother Chet for the next week or three. ;yes;
man that just plain stinks. I hope ya get back healthy again soon.
Wow! Sorry to hear the news. But glad to hear Chet wasn't hurt worse! Those shoulder injuries are bad enough. With two rotator cuff surgeries under my belt over the last two years I know how painful they are. Hang in there, Chet! I will be praying for a speedy recovery.
Chet, it just aint good for fella's our size to be falling off ladders. In my case it was just a pain in hte kiester . I do hope you get better soon. I was and still am looking forward to seeing you in about five weeks :eyebrownod: Jimmie
Prayers from here Chet
I fell off a ladder once also and broke a bone in my elbow. Not the same injury but it still hurt like hell for several weeks
Take care
Thanks again!! Yep, them danged ol' ladders are dangerous contraptions... should be outlawed. :laf:
The Radiologist's report said my break is the worse they had ever seen. :doh2: They compared my broken scapula to a dinner plate that was hit with a hammer, shattered into several pieces. :argh: Good news today though, the bone doc called, as bad as it is, they are not going to operate... better to let it heal on it's own. :highclap:
Jimmie I won't be doing any shooting until I get healed up, which may be 8-9 weeks away. They also won't let me drive right now (pain relievers) but hopefully, if the doc lets me travel, I'll see you all at the LBL. Besides poor ol' CCP & Bop will need a bunch of help keeping you bunch of rascals in line. :eyebrownod:
:yoyo: Thats all good news :congrats:
Now see...if you would have drank more milk like mom told ya your bones wouldn't be frail like an old lady :innocentwhistle:
Hope ya get back and better soon...you do know its hunting season right? The honey do lists and ladders can wait until spring man
Steve
Well Hallelujah Chet!!!! :yahoo:
I was scared they were going to try and pin all that stuff back together. You just do what the doc said to do and don't push it too hard. You made it easier on me when I had my surgery, now it's my turn to do the favor. :eyebrownod:
Glad to hear ya lived to talk about it, and hope the recovery is swift and well less painless.
Its a ladder now, but we all know by next year it will be a three story building. :innocentwhistle:
Get well soon.

Well, I heard that it WAS a three story building and the building was burning. Chet raced in to save a child and right after he got to the third floor the stairway collapsed. Since the fire department didn't have a ladder truck the only way for Chet to get the child out safely was to jump. Rather than injure the child, Chet held the child in front of himself and turned (during the fall) to land on his shoulder - giving the child the cushion of his body to break the fall. All I can say is WAY TO GO! You are a real hero. ;yes;
Jerry
^^^ :roflmao: ^^^
Ladder? I heard it had something to do with a bar stool and a play boy bunny :laf:
 I don't recall the bunny but if you say so!! :innocentwhistle:
hey bop!! grab those meds man cause theys gooduns!! :yoyo: :yoyo:

I was playing around with the idea of sitting on a 4 foot ladder and trying to call coyotes. I think I'll scrap that idea. :eyebrownod:
Glad it aitn as bad as it could have been. Heres hoping for a speedy recovery and little need for the pain meds.
Chet,
Hang in there. My son and wife have both had shoulder problems recently. Sounds like you out did them both though. My thoughts are with you and I hope you have a complete recovery!!
Jim
I'm glad they're not gonna operate on ya Chet!! That will save a lot of recovery time I would think. :yoyo: :yoyo: In the meantime hang in there Lefty!! :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
Heal up/get better soon Chet
