Title: New Hevi Shot (?)
Post by: vvarmitr on January 14, 2010, 12:39:58 PM
I was grabbing a quick bite at work in the control room at work last night & sneaking some peeks at my new Predator Extreme magazine when I suddenly let out a squeal of delight. :yahoo:
My partner at the other end of the counter gave me a startled look & said "Wwwhat?"
I said "They've came out w/ Hevi Shot in #4buck loads & in 10gauge!!!!"
He gave me a -- & went back to his crossword puzzle.
He's not the kinda guy that would show up at the LBL. :nono:

Forget about buying award winning calls. I know now what I want to spend my Christmas $ on. :eyebrow:

I went to their website to get ordering info & they didn't have a dadburn thing about it there.
Well, I e-mailed 'em & enlighten 'em on their new product, & asked 'em to get me some ordering info soos I could get me some.
I also mentioned that they should have came out w/ #4buck in the first place over the the silly T shot. :iroll:
They also have 12ga 31/2" loads too.

Hmmmmmmm?  :wo:
Not exactly the kind of response I expected.

A Mr. Petty V.P. of Sales & Marketing replied to my e-mail. He basically said I needed to click on some more stuff to get the info. In a polite kinda way.  The info was in a pdf file. :doh2:
Here is the info....... (Note I tried to enlarge it)

All the stupid stuff you can do on photobucket, but you can't enlarge.  :doh2:  Go figure! :iroll:

Something to keep in mind is.......Density........Some of the turkey and duck loads of heavy shot can be purchased a little cheaper with the same weight and density.......as well as size.

The folks at Hevishot are a little deceiving on this......If you look at the charts carefully they purposely make it hard for you to do the math on this one......The powder charges can change a tiny bit but the pellets are of the same material and will kill just as dead......They will tell you each is a different material...... :nono:  No manufacturing facility would go and invent a new material for each animal.... :nono:
I have done the math on this and argued with them as well......Really look at every load and you will eventually see for yourself.
Sometimes a little slower load is a good thing in my book.

Hey Guys,

I know #4 buck is not allowed at night in WV but I'm not so sure about daytime use. I think there is no law against it in daytime for predators. Now it can't be used for deer and such at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is a standard lead shot size chart and Hevi shot is a bit different in size But they are two different shot sizes.

Yeah Al,

After dark in WV nothing larger than #4 shot is allowed.

Number 4 buck is about .24 caliber a duck of a different color for sure.

But I can find no regs restricting shot size for daytime yote hunting!
