That was interesting.   Especially his comment about not seeing the necessity for having a squeaky clean barrel.

That is the way I was taught by my Dad & older Brother. It's OK to clean the daylights out of them in a rat patch but for all the more groundhogs & critters we shoot here it's just a waste of time & products. One good scrubbing a year is all they get.

I'm  not much for cleaning either, that's why I like my stuff in stainless steel.
Shooting cast bullets that fit the barrel are the best, just like 22 rf, I might just run  a boresnake through it if it's getting pretty dirty.
I've been to Kreiger  a few times and they are all nice people. One of the guys is even a match director at my club and we had an interesting conversation at our scheduling meeting last week. Sure would be nice to work there.

I don't think any of my 22RF have ever had a patch run through them.  My 22CF get cleaned once before fur season and again after fur season, my shotguns get cleaned once a year, some less.  However I do run a oil cloth over the outside about 3 or 4 times a year.

My RF rifles get a bore snake in the spring. My Ruger MKII gets sprayed out with gun scrubber twice a year. Diane likes shooting that one at the bench.   CF rifles get scrubbed every spring for groundhogs & the shotgun gets gun scrubber sprayed on it for spring turkeys season. The ML gets scrubbed real good after deer season & oiled a couple times a year.

Sorry HaMeR. You must type way faster than I can read.  I'll take some speed reading classes so it won't happen again.  :roflmao:
