Anyone else enjoying the Olympics? Canada seems to have done an excellent job of getting things ready. The weather is not helping, but outside of that all looks good. They just did some coverage of the women's biathlon rifle course. How anyone can ski like that and still be able to control their breathing to shoot accurately is more than I could ever hope to do. Most crossed the finish line and collapsed. Now that (collapsing) is something that I could do, but I don't need to exercise to do it.

Did you hear about the Russian Luge rider that went off course & rammed a support I-beam head 1st!! That guy musta been doing 70mph. :rolleye: Needless to say he didn't make it.
I watched the last part of the opening ceremonies last night,
and am watching some now, that's about all I've seen so far.
I saw the Luge crash last night. I'm surprised they showed it
on the news. I think they said he reached a speed of like
89.44 mph. Really too bad !
I did hear about the Luger rider, but that's about all I've seen or heard regarding any of it.
The death is certainly tragic.
This evening they said he was going 88 when he lost it on the final curve. They have had some of the men with speeds in the mid 90s. They now have the men starting on the women's start site and the women start from the junior's point. They have also put up additional padding and raised the wall to keep others from going over it. The president of Georgian says that it was not the accident was not the rider's fault. The riders that spoke this afternoon felt that they should be allowed to start at the top since it would allow the best riders the best chance to show their skill.

The suspense is building!
Why anyone would put the Olympics where they are is beyond me :pout:. Warmest place in Canada almost and they expected what? I'm sorry the fellow died but once again doing 80+ mph on ice with gravity working you kinda/sorta got expect to have something happen .
I turned on the ceremony's at the exact time they had K D Lang singing :argh: and immediately shut it off. I swear I heard TV sets breaking in Consort[her home town about 40 miles from me] when they saw it too. Freaking Dyke should have been riding double on the Luge track :pout:. FnCountry. :laf:

Live to Curl and Curt to live............ :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: That's some funny chit right there Dad. :laf:
Barry,
They had a really neat looking part of the ceremony where they had Killer Whales (projected some how or other) going across the floor and they would spout. It was really neat.
At the end of the program last night they did a short section on the dangers of the winter sports (not just the Olympic games, but all the winter sports). I had said about the same thing to my wife earlier in the day. They all want to fly higher, faster, etc. and many are not wearing any protection.
Jerry
Jerry I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I kinda/sorta don't like the Olympics cause they have judged events and I dislike judges immensely as they are never right. :readthis: The media has pretty much ruined the games for me as they put expectations on the athletes they don't deserve. :argh: The idea that these people are on a team is wrong cause when they participate in a sport like skiing they are on their own and should be proud of whatever they accomplish against the best in the world without the fear of letting their country down. My rant for the day.
Barry,
I have to agree that whenever judges are involved there will be bias, but I do like watching most of the events. Part of what I enjoy are the stories about the athletes themselves and some of the things they have had to overcome just to participate.

Oh yeah. The athletes are awesome :yoyo:. I couldn't agree more. I really get pissed at the fact that the media and event organizers try to over shadow them by bringing in "Super stars" from the entertainment world just to help sell tickets. This set of games should only be about the athletes :readthis:. Guess I needed to rant again today :laf: :laf:.
Barry,
You and I need to run the Olympics for a couple of go arounds so that we could get them straightened out.

Wouldn't that cause a stir :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:. One thing for a fact there would be room for actual sports observers cause to get accreditation for a media card would be harder than getting a gun up to Canada . Any judge that gave a point just for the name on a contestant would get to use the short rope on the ski jump too :hahaha:.
Curling starts at noon today! :yoyo: :yoyo: Don't forget to set your recorders. :readthis:

Ran across this on the net and thought it was funny and fitting.

LOL, and no ice needed. :roflmao:
USA vs Germany in curling on the USA network now! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Yeah. I watched a little of that. Kind of looks like a little horseshoes and shuffle board?? I had to run some errands, did the Germans win??
Jim
The Germans won. :pout: :pout:
The US was hanging in there pretty good for the part I watched.

My wife is PO'ed cause we don't get the channel that has curling on it??? I set the broom by the door and told her if she wants to try out for the team, the driveway needs sweeping... Fortunately I'm much quicker than she is! :whew:

U.S. mens team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory....... again.
Pat
Who beat them . I see a lady from London won the 1,000 meter long trak spped skating by 2/100ths of a second. :whew:
As you guys know I'm an idiot with or without a computer. A few of you have shown an interest in finding the olympics on different channels. I don't know how to find live feeds and as such can't do more than put up the links of the channels that come on up here and if you can find what you are looking for great.

This last one has the best commentators on it for the curling . The jerks on the other networks make me so :argh: that the wife gets afraid for her TV.

Was that the part where four of them got sent home? One for shoplifting, two for sexual misconduct and they wouldn't even say what the other one did :argh:. Anyone else would have got jailed but OH NO not them yellow striped [sons of female dogs]. 4 military personnel there for security were also taken away.
Nope, these were the good ones.
