Neat pictures.  I think I remember losing that penny so I would be more than happy to pay you the postage to send it here.

Would you care to share where these were taken?  I did see Elizabeth, WV, but were they all shot around there?  Looks like a good area for pictures.

Jerry

edit:  I was looking at these and if you look at the pictures with the skulls you can see a ghost in the window.   :sad3:

Thanks Dave.   Those are great pics of an era that had to be tough to survive in.  Them old fellers had some ability to make a house that solid out of a tree :bowingsmilie:.  Why is it that your court houses are so majestic looking?  Couldn't they hang you just as dead from a saloon as them expensive looking places?

South of ht emason dixon line they did get hung at the saloon Barry. In fact more there than at the courthouse in many counties. And that includes the lynchings that happened at the courthouse

I hope the folks owning those buildings can find a way to preserve them. We have lost all of ours here.  Even some of hte not so old school houses are gone. Sold into private hands and let rot or torn down. Fancy Farm school is hte last left and we are fighting to keep it intact. County is already building a new school there and I hope the old one can be taken care of by the comunity. Jimmie

I absolutely love history. All kinds of history. When I'm out hunting and run across an old home place or something like that I almost always have to stop and look around.

Thank you so much for these pics Golf, now if you could just add some history to go with them, that would be awesome.  :highclap:

A few weeks ago I went with a friend of mine to check out 15 acres he had bought. We went into a real thick part and found the remnants of an old corn crib and what had been the foundation of an old house and a little bit of the fireplace. I noticed all the trees beside it were all the same age, so I surmised it must be a very old grown up field. Sure enough we found what was left of an old plow that the mules would've pulled. I asked him for it, but he wanted to keep it. I don't blame him a bit.

Really liked the pictures Dave.  Makes you think about the people who built them without the tools we have today.  Thanks for sharing.
