Last week my cousin gave me a call, and wanted to know if i cared if two of his buddys from louisville went out yote hunting with us thursday. I figured if they wanted to drive around 3 hours to get to my house, i would take them out.
They got here thursday morning as planed. Before the first stand i told them "we do more yote hunting than yote shooting" just in case they had real high expectations.
The first set, we were on one ridge facing another. I had the to guys on my down wind side about 20 yards apart. With the area covered my cus set up beside the last down wind guy and faced down a deer trail. About the ten min. mark i heard the boom of death. My cousin had a big male yote run down the deer trail head on with him, it was a point blank execution. Cus said it was so close,he just looked across the top of the scope and pulled the trigger. :bowingsmilie:
We made one more set but came up empty. On the third set, we was hunting in a mine field that had a thicket up on the ridge. We decided to get about 100 yards from the woods, and try to shoot them checking up just out side of the woods. Just as soon as i started calling two yotes came busting out of the woods and stoped at the top of the hill about 80 yards away. My cus told the guy beside him "the one with the rifle" to go ahead and shoot. The .222 hit the yote right between the front shoulders, sending it down the hill in a roll.
We might of got both of them but with 4 guys in knee high grass one was great

Yeah the guy on the right is having a tough time keepin er up there. Kinda looks like he's in a bar full of people, got a grip on a half empty longneck, and he's indicating "cheers" from across the room to a buddy. :alscalls:
Awesome job by the way guys! Thanks for sharing it.

Good job, congrats on the yotes.
Them guys are probably wondering if they could move in with ya. You just became their new best friend. Good story and good pictures. However I was just thinking that your comment "On the third set, we was hunting in a mine field " is kinda dangerous. You would think that the military would pull up all those old "mines."
lol....it was a reclamed coal mine field
Good story Topdawg. You got 'em hooked for sure. Kudos to all concerned.
WTG! Topdawg!!
Jim
Congrats go out to ya'll fellers. That is a heck of a first attemp at hunting ... I bet ya you have spoiled the newbies for life :yoyo:
