Title: What one word?
Post by: pitw on April 05, 2010, 09:26:02 PM
Would you use to describe your feeling's about life, yourself and stupidity :doh2: when you do this to a gaining on two hundred year old gun?

Broke the screw holding the hammer on cause it was a tad loose :pout:.

It should look like this.

Now it looks like this.

And this.

One screw holds her all together.

Just wondering what word you would have used .

I can think of two words.  When it first happened it would have been SH IT.  Then a few minutes later it would change to REPAIR.  It looks like a problem, but not one that can't be fixed.

I see what may have caused the problem there Barry...you're trying to repair a 200 year old firearm and using the cooling , heating and air conditioning chapter of that book. I don't believe that firearm had those options :nofgr:

As far as one word...I agree with Charlie and will have to use the polite term...DOH :doh2:

Hope you kind find screw to get her fixed back up.

Steve

I'd be a bit more decadent, I would had used the "F" word.
I really don't think it's a sin to use it as it isn't outlawed in the Bible.
People just hate it because it is such a perfect word for so many occasions. ;yes;
You start off w/ the F, in this case a couple Fs (Ffff) Like stream escaping. Then the UCK! When the steam actually blows.
Now try it here w/ me ......
Ffffffffff UCK!

Hey Barry, I'm with Steve on this you got the wrong manual for that there gun.  Sorry to see that happen, hopefully it can be repaired. And by the way if that had happened to me there would not have been one word, more like a series of words, repeated frequently over the course of several minutes.

Heating, cooling and air conditioning?   That looks more like "How to change a Nissan water pump".
Maybe I should see about some spectacles.

I guess my carelessness will just add a little more character to the gun  :innocentwhistle:.  The old girl has been broke in half[not me] and a few other minor dings and scratches.  I got a buddy with a lathe and milling machine who will build me a new screw for the gun so it won't be out of commission long :whew:.
VV I couldn't agree with a person more than I do with you.  The word you speak of is the one word that is the most used and can be used for every situation.  I got a big buddy that can say more with it than Shakespeare could say in a play.
The word I chose to use was Otiose.
