This week we are doing some remodeling in the store at work so the hours we are open to the public have changed.
Last evening I was 15 minutes late getting back to the shop and everyone else had went home,since I have keys to get in and had to call the boss,I went in to clean up my tools and clock out make my phone call then go home.I unlock the door and went oh shit I forgot we had an alarm and I had never used my pass code in the soon to be 5 years I worked there.Well after about a minute and a half I finally got the alarm shut off not thinking anymore of it,
I went about my business and started to reset the alarm when I noticed the barrel of a shotgun coming through the door I was standing beside. :nono: I just reached out and nudged the door open and said hello.There stands the chief of police and you could tell by the tone and the excitement in his voice that I scared him,as he stood there trying to figure out why I was there and how he could have shot me.I told him thats not the first time I seen that side of a shot gun and even had shot hit the ground beside me as I tried to tell him at that distance I would have never felt it.
Now the gate was still open my keys hanging in the door and my rusted out pickup still setting in the parking lot,and that gave him no reason to think it could have been me in the building.I understand that the way things are going you need to be careful but in this small town I live in where everyone knows everyone that was just a bit to much I thought

You never know who will kill you. The cop was right not to take a chance.
Even knowing the vehicle, he had no sure way of knowing it was you in there , Bill. In this day and time he may have been thinking he may have to hunt for your body later. Out here in the boonies we are worried about who or what may be coming to the door latley. I know any and all sttray critters will be taken care of before I get up, not sure about the human boogers since they have a tendancy to run when a dog opens up. It's not like it was twenty years ago when we often left for town with the doors unlocked. I even think about locking the house now just to go to the garden. Jimmie
The reason I nudged the door open was so the chief would know who he was looking for was standing right there,not to be a smart ass,and I even told him he had the right to be as careful as possible.
I just choked up a lil bit thinking we could have all been Billless :sad3:

I had kept my eye on the barrel of the gun from the time it entered the door and at no time did it come in direct line with me and at no time did I feel threatened.I had plenty of room to move if needed. It is all over with nowand I think the only thing I would do different is
