Title: long range scopes
Post by: nor-cal yote on April 12, 2010, 07:52:14 PM
I am looking for some help, I have purchased two 6.5 x 284 Norma rifles in the last few mounths, I shot the first one with the Ziese scope that was on it and it was a blast we were shooting at an 18 x18 inch target at 1000 yards. I have the rifle now, minus the scope and just ordered a second lighter one, the first is about 15 lbs w/out the scope. I am looking for a good scope that I will be able to see and shoot that far. I am looking at the Leupold mark 4 8.5x22  any help would be app.

The Leupold should work for that. Call Leupold & tell them what you're doing & they will walk you thru their reticles & adjustment knobs & hook you up real good.  :yoyo: :yoyo:

I shoot a Leupold 6.5 -20  for shooting out to about 500yds. But I do not think it would be enough for me at 1000....... :nono:
On a good day I can hit an egg at 500....... but I have had days where that little trick took 46 shots......  :laf: :laf:

Alot of the LR shooter's shoot fixed power scope's. And most of em are straight 10 power. I gotta have a Variable myself. I think your looking in the right direction with Leupold, Ya cant beat the warranty and with there custom shop all things are possible. As a matter of fact my boy was ringing steel at 1350 with a straight 10 power!

Now take HaMaR for instance......The Hubble telescope wouldnt help him If ya could mount it on a rifle

If you're really serious look at the Nightforce Scopes.  :eyebrow:

Here's a local that might know something about shooting a 1000yds & maybe a mile. :innocentwhistle:
