Ugly Ol' Male. I thought it was mange but no red rash on his belly, could it be that he's just shedding?

I don't know too many of us eastern boys that don't hunt the thick stuff.
It's not like Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, etc. Most of the east is one big chunk of woods in various forms.

I don't think they shed their tails in this part of the country either, not naturally anyway, There are Trappers around here that use live traps and when they catch Coyotes they cut their tails off and sell to Hound Hunters so when you see Bobtail Coyotes that is probably what happen to him.cc

Everything is Thick in S Carolina. The shotgun is an Old 870 Wingmaster. It was my grandfathers and my first gun I ever owned. It was given to me shortly after he passed years ago, I think I was twelve. Some would think I should take care of it, but I would rather use it like my Pawpaw did. I'm 35 now and I've hunted turkeys and coyotes with it and have killed several of each. There is not a hunt that goes by that I don't think about him looking down on me from Heaven and seeing me with that Ol' shotgun and smiling.
I wish I had been old enough to go hunting with him when he was still alive, rest in peace "Walkin Man."

Amen to that SCCH. I can still feel the pat on my back every time I get an old Mauser out of its case. Heres to friends that went ahead to scout the Great Beyond for us!

Great job and great story. My Dad was a dairy farmer so he never had time to take me hunting so my grandfather was the one that took me and even my grandmother went with us. Those times bring back so really fond memories. Luckily I got to hunt with my grandfather for about 30 yrs. It is great to hear from people who appreciated their grandparents. God bless you all.

And by the way, it doesn't matter how ugly that coyote was I'm sure he still ate his share of game. Keep up the good work. See ya in the woods.
