Title: Got a nice one this afternoon
Post by: coyote101 on April 30, 2010, 10:46:53 PM
Fished a couple of hours this evening. We caught fourteen fish, including four between 12 and 13 inches. Then about 7:30 this guy took an 8 inch curly tailed worm:

Five and three quarter pounds and a bit over 22 inches.

The red spot is the 24 inch mark on my tape

My biggest bass to date.

My wife caught this 11 1/2 inch red eared sunfish a couple of weeks ago in the same lake:

Nice fish Pat :yoyo:.  The measuring  G stick is a mite hard to see though behind the FnF sign .  Glad you got out for what you so obviously enjoy.

That bass is a DANDY!  Thanks for the story and great pics.

But the sunfish is huge compared to any I've ever seen, a Boone & Crockett fish!

Nice fish Pat.  I don't read to many of these fishing post, makes me kinda jealous as I really enjoy fishing and there is not much of it around where I live.  Tell the wife congratulations,  that's the biggest red ear I have ever seen.

Pat,

Nice pictures and even nicer fish.  What is even better is that you get your wife to go out with you.  Looks like a nice place to spend a little time.

Tell the wife congratulations,  that's the biggest red ear I have ever seen.

Kentucky has a Trophy fish program where the Department will send a certificate for fish over a certain size. Sunfish and bluegill qualify at 10 inches. That red ear made it easily.  She also caught a bluegill the same day that was a little over nine inches. Just missed qualifying two fish in one day.

What is even better is that you get your wife to go out with you.

She loves to fish. I gave her that old canoe for Mother's Day last year and we have spent many hours in it. She's got a bladder about the size of a peanut and can't ride in the car for more than a couple of hours. But somehow she can fish for six or seven hours straight and never complain. And I won't either!

I think it is spooled with 14# flourocarbon.
