Three weeks ago the wife and I went to our bear stand. We did some repairs and set out the bait and home made attractant. I have been going in about every four to five days checking the trail cam and bait, no bear hits but the squirrels have been getting pretty fat. Last night I passed going in to check since my son was coming home from work out of town. We both went in this morning with 50lbs of bait and some honey just in case. We both had big smiles on our faces when we got there and bigger when we looked at the trail cam.
Hard to tell but the one next to the barrel may be a bit bigger. The top of the jug is about 75" off the ground

Don't know if something spooked them, but they seemed to leave in a hurry.

This may be a third bear that caused them to leave or the bear next to the drum.

Either way I will know tomorrow night, and decide whether I will take one or not.

Great pics! Good luck on your hunt. Let us know what happens.
We will be expecting to see a picture of a bear with you in it. That didn't sound correct. A picture of a dead bear with you beside it.
Jerry
Cool pics
What are your temps averaging up there right now John? Those Bear look beautiful as far as the fur goes. Clean think and healthy.
Very nice. :congrats:
Love that line Jerry, yeah better him dead and I am beside him. Thirties in the mornings Jim and between fifties and sixties in the evenings. Yes I think the fur on these are looking pretty good, will determine their size before taking one though.
John
Good luck!
I'll be looking for the update.
Dave

Nice pictures John and hope you get a good one. I think that bear in the last picture is of the proper size, judging from the size of it's head.
Nice looking bears!! Good Luck!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Best of luck, and keep us posted with lots of pictures. Unfortunately I won't be bear hunting this year, so I'll be getting my bruin fix vicariously through all you guys that will be out amongst el Mato!
:thumb2: Those pics are way cool , Tikaani! Can't wait to see the hero shots from this story!

Patience young grasshoppa...patience :corn: :corn: :corn:
Just a short update. Went in Sunday night and the the trail cam did not have any pictures and the bait was untouched, they did not come in that night either. They may have smelled me or are still in their post hibernation stupor. Two bears this size when in full swing can eat 50lbs of food no problem, my guess is they are still eating grass and will start to feed in earnest soon, they know where the food is. So in the words of Steve "patience" for now. I will probably go in Wednesday night to check camera and bait, doubt I will sit in the stand with work the next day, or I may "Hunt hard and Die tired" heh heh
John
:laf: yeah
:laf: :laf: You guys cracked me up!! :laf: :laf:
Thanks for that Steve.
