When we pulled up to this drag line there was a fella setting there in a truck. He gave us a little bit of info on this machine. She was bought from a mining company in Utah. Torn down & re-assembled on this lot here in East Central Ohio 2 years ago. What an investment to have just setting for two years. There are plans currently being made to put it to use somewhere here in Ohio.

This is a walking machine. Those big pontoon looking pads on the sides are it's feet.

The oval wheel lifts the pads & moves them in the direction of travel. Away from the boom usually. Sets the pads down & they lift the machine & push it about 8 feet at a time. When working it sets on the round pad between them & rotates.

Here's a tugboat & several barges on the Ohio River at Steubenville, Ohio. Weirton West Virginia is on the other side of the Ohio. This pic was taken at 50-55 mph.

Let me know when you're bored with this stuff & I'll stop. :nono: :nono:
Why were you driving so slow :alscalls:
What city is the drag in now
:laf: :laf: For the pic. Apparently the camera has a speed sensor in it. :alscalls: :alscalls:
That drag line is up on the hill right between Brilliant & Mingo Jct. Anytime you want to ride around down there & look at this stuff in person just holler. We're headed that way after we go down to Mom & Dads & look at their computer. Call me or Diane & we'll let you know when we're leaving if you want to go along.
I never tire of your pics :nono:. Makes you think that the fellow who moved it may have missed out on a homework assignment or two.
:doh2::nofgr: Don't you stop putting up that stuff! It's like getting to go somewhere without having to leave home for me. I have started looking for your Went For A Drive posts to see what you found next!
Thats interesting. I'd kinda like to see it walking :eyebrownod:
There used to be a Drag line very similar to that,it used to set on Croocked Run RD just out side of Ragersville
It was powered by electric and had a power cord about 6 inches in diameter and several miles long
Barry- The fella that owns it also owns 83 mines all across the US. He may have missed an assignment or two but I don't think his Banker noticed. :laf: :laf:
shad-- Post up what you got around there. Never know what you'll bring to the table for all to see.
Jim-- If we ever stumble on to one of those moving I sure will get a video of it. :yoyo: :yoyo:
Bill-- Never seen that one out there before. We couldn't find the one out behind the School either. But we'll keep looking.
