Title: Shotgun Patterns
Post by: arse on January 28, 2007, 08:08:10 PM
I patterned my new Mossberg 835 today looking for good loads for Coyotes.  I tried 4 loads in 3 different chokes at 30 yards and have it narrowed down to 2 combinations.

1) Hevi-Shot #4 3.5 in.  It patterned 22 shots into a 4" circle using a X-Full .715 choke.
2) Dead Coyote T shot 3.5 in.  It patterned 7 T shot in a 4" circle using same x-full choke.

My question is which to go with.  I am pretty pumped about the #4 pattern but 7 T-shots must pack quite a punch.

Any thoughts on which to go with.  I will also have a .243 but I figured in thick woods a good pattern from a 3.5 in shotgun would work nearly as well in close action.

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Arse

If you can legally use the T shot in your area then that is what I would use. Them are some bad puppies when it comes to slapping coyotes. Jimmie

T shot will flat poor it on a coyote. I shoot the dead coyote in 3" out of a .665 choke. And it shoots very well and has a heck of a punch!
