I saw these 2 nice toms come out into a cornfield and have a good long dust bath..it was comical how they were rolling around and digging themselves down into a hole and kicking...they seemed to really enjoy it:

Nice pics! I always wondered why they didn't take a "bird bath" with water like their little cousins in my back yard. :wo:

I could be wrong, I often am, but I think I have heard that the dust helps control mites and water doesn't. You will quite often see birds taking dust baths that also take water baths.

You are right about the mites, Jerry. I just got to thinking I've never seen or heard of a turkey taking a water bath. They might do it, I don't know. :shrug: They sure could make a splash! :laf:

Partridge love dust baths, they will use the same place alot for that purpose.
