It was the 4H achievement today for our local clubs in the beef club. I actually got done early enough[work a little harder tomorrow] to get there in time to watch them sell[I missed the judging and food :doh2:]. After the sale they had a charity calf they sold tickets on and being me I bought the first lot of tickets for $550 just to help set the price higher :innocentwhistle:. Five minutes later I get a phone call and had to run meet a fellow so I didn't get to see the results but I just got home and Bobby calls me telling me I won the dang thing . It weighed 1,280 pounds and will sell for about $.94/lb. I guess it does pay to be an idiot once in a while :laf:. The great part is I can write off the initial purchase on my tax's as a charitable donation :yoyo:.
And the pics?? :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
Camera wasn't with me :doh2: but maybe Wilma got some.
Well just dont count your eggs yet with this one...... Could turn out to be a fence jumping peanut lover....... :laf: :laf:
If i know my wife I'll end up without anything as she'll probably donate the calf to the cause too :doh2:.
:laf: :laf:
Congrats on that 1280# calf !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, congrats on the latest addition to the family. :congrats:
Well I was right :doh2:. I am now the proud owner of a piece of paper that says I donated the calf to the 4H too :rolleye:. Wilma said I got a nice round of applause when they announced that the calf goes to sale for the club :iroll:. Oh well on the bright side I guess I'll come out about even on the financial end and just look like a fool :laf: :laf:.
I'm sure the 4H club appreciates the donation and if the heifer was a fence jumping peanut lover Mrs Wilma was looking after the Peanut crop. :laf: cc
I don't think you will look like a fool Barry. Charity like that is what this world could use a whole lot more of. Too many takers and not enough givers. You da man my friend. :congrats: :yoyo:

I ain't so sure Bop as I was standing with one of my customers[who happens to run a 17,000 head feadlot] when his wife paid $2.14/lb for the Grand Champion steer and he had just told me the going price for fat cattle on the "real" market. I told him he was some kinda freaking fool and we laughed. Wilma said he came looking for me after the donation so I think when I show up at his lot to spray 800 acres of corn this morning that I may be told he was at least smart enough to get the beef :laf: :laf: :laf:.
