Title: Old Style Owl Hooters
Post by: blacky on August 15, 2010, 10:01:39 AM
I have been making these hooters out of plastic for about 30 years and thought I would try my hand with wood.

Let me take this step by step.

Yes, I am going to be selling them and the price is $12.50 each.

The brown call is made from mahogany with walnut end pieces and mouthpiece. The other 3 are made from colored laminates.

These seem to have a better tone than the plastic ones I have made and others that I have tried.

I am in the process of making another dozen or so for a show at the end of next month.

Blacky,

I will buy the "brown call is maple from mahogany with walnut end pieces and mouthpiece" if you still have it.  Heck of a deal for a call that works on Hooters!

Jerry

Send me a PM or email.

Blacky,

Just wanted you to know that the Hooter arrived today and it is better "in the hand" than on the "net".  Also wanted to let you know that it does work very well as a locator call.  I started a few hoots and my wife calls from the other room, "What is that?"   I knew right where she was.

Thanks Jerry but you better be careful with that call because the wife may decide to use it on you. :alscalls: :alscalls: :alscalls:

I got my hooter today, and I gotta say...as simple as this thing looks, it's even simpler to use. :yoyo:

I figured I'd be blowing this thing for days  (whew that did not sound good) :doh2: trying to get an owl sound.
But it didnt happen that way. Got er on the first try...and every try after that.

Awesome sound. Thanks Gene :highclap:
