I was wondering if any of you guys up north of us have flint in or around your water supplies? Fields? Yards? Sling shot aimed at your ex? :alscalls:
Me and little man are needing some to make up some new points to hunt with this year. When you can find it in our area, it is loaded with Quartz and does not knap very well at all. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Three Rivers Archery has it http://search.3riversarchery.com/search?w=obsidian
That's who I get mine from now since Lost Nation Archery sold out and moved out of state.
Here is another place, I have not purchased anything from them, but some of the trad hunters in our club say it's good.

The only thing we have laying on the ground around here is granite and mica. Not much help in the free department
Maybe you can find someone in Licking and Muskingum counties of eastern Ohio. I doubt if all the flint is gone.

You can also make them from Obsidian, fiber optics... And many other options. A friend of mine makes em all the time, as well as knives but I cant seem to convince him to come on here and show off his work.... He says hes too busy right now... :iroll:
We have flint laying all over around here, but I have no idea what to look for as far as good or bad pieces to make arrow heads. I will send a few bigger chunks if you are interested in trying though. Send a pm with an address.
I've made them from glass & a few from obsidian but they don't hold up.....when I miss the target  :innocentwhistle:
The flint points I made last worked very well for several hunded shots into just about everything. Except when they hit other rocks.
Sent ya some info 5shots. THanks for the help and will not forget it. Let me know if there is anything I can do to repay the favor.
