I took a guy from work out calling with me this morning and made 2 stands before it got too hot. He is brand new to hunting and we called in a coyote at each stand. The 1st stand of the morning had one come in after about 10 min on his side but he couldn't get a shot before it winded us. The 2nd stand we were setup a little closer to each other and I called 1 series with a raspy rabbit call and within a minute a young mail came trotting in to within 8 yards. There was nothing in between me and him so I new any movement would spook him and he was already looking in my direction pretty cautiously. With 1 steady motion I raised the shotgun and got a load in his hind quarters that caused him to spin and allow me to get 2 follow-up shots. He only went about 10 yards before piling up and 1 more shot from my buddy to put him out of his misery sealed the deal.
I believe my co-worker may be hooked on the whole predator calling thing.

Carrying on the tradition, I see. :highclap: Some years back I remember meeting another young feller getting hooked on predator calling.
You did well, my friend!!! :congrats: :yoyo:
What a nice read that was and pics to boot :bowingsmilie:. Way to lay it down in that heavy cover. :highclap:
A dead coyote is a good coyote & that right there is a good coyote. Way to go on initiating a new predator hunter. :yoyo: :yoyo:
Nice Knot!!!! Is thats as furred up as they get down there?
Congratulations! Glad to see some one out. :yoyo:
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. The coolest thing about it is that we were setup close enough to where he saw the coyote about the same time i did so he got to experience that increase in blood pressure we all know those coyotes can cause.
Chet: I am trying to return the favor here in Eastern, GA. :thumb2: Hopefully I can link up with you guys for the LBL this year. 2 years ago i was in Iraq and last year I had just moved to GA and couldn't swing it.
Todd: it is still 90 degrees or close to it here everyday so they still have their summer coats on. they will furr up quite a bit, but not as much as I imagine the northern coyotes do...
Thanks Knot. Thats kinda what I was wondering, if they even got any thicker down there at all.
Sweet! :yoyo: :yoyo: Way to go. :congrats: :congrats: Thanks for sharing.
