Well lets see how this works out. :innocentwhistle:
Wyatt wanted to go try and find some grouse before school started this week. So last week I took him out for a the day. I head several goals this one and they were..
- Get Wyatt behind the gun again.
- Get him some bar time on the wheeler to boost his confidence a lil bit, and to gain some more experience in case he gets one. :innocentwhistle:
-And of course any game is bonus.
We road most of the day, passing on several squirrels as we were looking for the elusive grouse, but we never did find any. :doh2: So on the way Wyatt's driving the wheeler and I tapped him on the should to watch this fat pine squirrel chowing down up this tree. The first thing he said was "Can I shoot him?" I said yeah if your gona eat him. So we did the negotiating for a bit and he decided to shoot him.
In this first clip I knew his stance wasn't correct and he didn't have the .410 seated all that well either, but he knows better then dad and I was getting letting him confirm that. :alscalls:

He says "Ohhh" :alscalls: This lil H&R .410 is the same one I got when I was 8, and the same one I dropped this spring and broke. :doh2: But its fixed now.
This next video is his retrieval. Lol. Probably an unnecessary video but I thought it was funny. This is his first ever squirrel and he wasn't quite sure about it.

And of course his Hero Shot with the Boone and Crockett Pine Squirrel.

PS. Nast I had bith the Super Comanche and the .454 with me, but did get a chance to use either. We did see a huge hawk and a legal bull moose but he had two days until season, and I could have taken him with the .454. :doh2:
WTG! Good shooting!
Jim
Congrats on your first squirrel Wyatt! :congrats:
I think it would have been been funny if while in the tree, Wyatt yelled "Dad, lookout a grizzly!" Ol' Dad would have shown the boy how to get up a tree post haste! LOL!
I'm glad to see you getting the young man outdoors Todd. The fact that you are able to capture it on video (and share it with us), makes it all the more special.
Dave
Wyatt,
Good shot on the squirrel. That sized squirrel is not a very big target. Last, but not least, don't let your Dad eat all of the squirrel - you shot it and you should get to eat most of it.
Jerry
Great job, Wyatt.
Let us know how good it was!
Thanks Fellas, I have a lot of fun when I'm out with him.
