Title: WV 2011 Otter season
Post by: cathryn on September 21, 2010, 07:49:36 PM
ya'll take notice of any otter sign you might see this year while your out hunting or trapping.

learned from the DNR that we will have an otter season in 2011 with a limit of 1.

we have to start somewhere.

hopefully theyve got it lined up with the Cities deal so we can sell them out of state when we catch them.

Is that  1 per person per season? If so you and your partner could have 2

technically, every person with a valid wv hunting/fishing/trapping license could harvest an otter..............

not sure about a gun season on them..but i figure theyll be like rats and beaver are here and no hunting of them will be allowed.

Sounds great. Guess I'll have to do some research on otter trapping. I've trapped some muskrats over the years but don't have a clue about otter.

I can't understand why you haven't had an otter season in WV 'til now.  VA has had an otter season forever, it seems.

who knows what the DNRs way of thinking is.

i do know this..gbuys if you wnat to say you caught one...take advantage of it this season cause from what ive heard the fur biologist is real antsy bout the season and it might be a one year deal.

also if you catch one, the DNR is asking that you turn inthe whole carcass to them if theyre females and the heads if theyre males.
