This will give you a better idea of the size of the claw on a 1 3/4 pound lobster.  That is a normal sized ball point pen on the claw.   Dang it was good.

Mr. Latta, you sir sure do have a way of rubbing it in a guy's face. Lobster is easily in the top 5 of my most favorite things to eat in this world. I have never seen such a big lobster and find myself in the precarious position of being very envious of you right now.  :noway:

I went to Ruby Tuesdays tonight and had a full rack of Memphis Dry rubbed ribs, but I am convinced they were in no way as good as the Lobster you ate.  :rolleye:

Lobster is toward the top of my list too.  I had eaten a few before I first came to Maine in the late 70's and the no longer taste as good back home.  I don't know if it is knowing that they have only been out of the ocean for a day or two or what, but the taste is different here.  Becky gets a couple at the grocery about once a year when they are on "special" and they are good, but not close to these.  Then there is the "special" price at the grocery of about $12 a pound and the price here of $6 a pound.  You can get the smaller 1 pounders for $5, but when you come this far what is another buck a pound.  We get them at the lobster co-op and know that they are fresh.  I will probably have to get another tonight.

The weather is obviously much cooler than the summer and the leaves are turning and falling.  The temps have been in the mid 50s during the day and upper 30s at night.  The biggest difference is the lack of tourists.  We stopped at LL Bean yesterday and pretty much had the store (and town) to ourself.  During the summer it is pretty much elbow to elbow with tourists.  This is the first time we have been here when it wasn't July, so there are a few differences.
