Yesterday my mom gets a phone call from some jerk that said her checking account is in danger and he needs the account # off the bottom of her checks. She told him she just don't give that # out.He got very persitant and she told him here talk to my husband. When dad got on the phone the jerk hangs up.They reported it to the bank and the bank said THIS IS A SCAM. No kidding
kinda makes you want to hunt these kinda people down!!
Bill
Do you think it was a local?
I've heard of this before. Sometimes they need your account number to verify your name too so they can send you some kind of prize that you never even signed up for :rolleye:
Even telemarketers and collection people should be hunted down. My g/f belonged to a bank who payed one of her automatic bill pay things twice, which left her account short. She fueded with the bank for a while and just said screw it and closed her account and joined another bank. Well the first bank put a collection account on her and they have been calling her cell phone for a while and she ignores the calls.
Well the other night MY house phone rang and she answered. It was the same collection place and she asked 5 times how they got the #. He kept telling her that it don't matter how they got it. She said well until they tell her how they got it she ain't saying nothin. After a couple minutes of back and forth I grabbed the phone and said that this is my phone and I pay for it and I expect that they will never call it again! We will see what happens.
I say it is someone that preys on the elderly and hope they arn't up on things and give the # out and they can clean out the account.Little SOB's

Bill,
I would have to agree with the SOB part, but not the little. I think they are BIG SOB's.
Jerry
I agree Jerry Just a little typo. That guy will be lucky the cops catch him instead of someone like me.
