Title: Twist rate?
Post by: Mallardsr on February 09, 2007, 09:38:11 PM
I was looking at Savages model 24F. A 12ga/.223 combo. They list the twist rate at 1in 14.This seems slow for a .223. Any opinions or facts on this combo?  RP

Mallard i have heard that those guns shoot pretty well.I have no first hand experience though. The twist rate does seam a little slow.As long as you shoot 55 grain bullets or less it should be OK.It would never stabalize a heavy bullet such as 60 or 65 grain.

Isn't that the same combo that Ronnie Cannon uses?
