I see a lot of calls made out of some very beautiful wood. Most of which I have never even seen in tree form. I was just wondering why no black walnut? Is it hard to come by? Just a thought.
Walnut makes good calls, but it is not as hard as some of the exotic woods. The harder the wood the greater the distance the sound will carry. I have made several from walnut in the past, but getting the finish on walnut that I like takes longer than other woods. I have a piece of walnut that I cut today and will be working on it in the next couple of days.

This one is not figured, just straight grain walnut. Good field grade call.
