In a word, WOW :shock2:. Who would have thought there was that much interest in a turkey :wo:. Are you going in all the calling contests? Is there any room left in the town for any people who would like to view this event :readthis:. This post belongs under eye opener of the day :whew:.
I was there last year, and it sure was a sight to be seen. :yoyo: Some of the fanciest turkey calls in the world are there. The biggest of the big call collectors are there for the live and silent auctions of the calls. Fancy calls at the NWTF show sell for $1000's of dollars. I watched several calls sell for $3000-$6000 last year.
I think I am going again this year, and will try to take some pictures of the calls and event.

It has been several years since I attended the convention but I may go this year and see the sights. :laf:
The last time I was there I met General Norman Schwarzkopf briefly. He was checking out all of the exhibits and having a great time just like the rest of us.
He was there last year too Semp. Just hanging out, browsing the exhibits like a regular guy.

Barry, since the big call collectors are at the event, there is also a showing of some fancy duck calls there too. I didn't get a pic of the fancy turkey calls from last year, but here is a pic of some fancy duck calls:

I think Bobby said it best "That's FnInsane". I kinda/sorta thought you were joking when you said $4-6,000 :doh2:. Them ain't all for use I'm a betting :whew:. Most calls I ever saw in one place is just above my monitor and if my wife ever see's this thread I won't be allowed far from them . I was wondering what you could do there for 4 days but I got's an idea I now know.
The NWTF convention definitely has plenty of eye candy. It is hard to believe some calls go for thousands of $ with this recession going on.
What would something like this one sell for

In Vegas 25+ years ago I was in an antique store with a turkey carved from a block of hardwood that they wanted $25,000 for and I of course fell in love :doh2:. Just like most of my loves though, I lost and didn't get it .
Really nice looking calls, but I can honestly say that this is the first time I have seen a turkey call with an elk and mountain lion on it. We had a conference at Opryland a few years back and I fell in love with Fern an extremely well camouflaged woman.

She was on stilts (or was just naturally 8 feet tall) and was covered with vines and flowers. She moved real slow and if you didn't stop you would not know that it wasn't really a plant.
