We killed and quartered a beef today. My friend and I are going halves on it.

Wow, the story kept me spell bound and the information overload could take me months to work through :laf: :laf:. Looks like some fine eating material there Bam :congrats:. Are you cutting her up yourselves too. Just curious as to how thick you make steaks and such but don't answer if it got to personal :innocentwhistle:.

A little birdy told me you would probably be wanting more details. :innocentwhistle: :innocentwhistle:
Yes, we will be cutting it up ourselves ( we being me , my wife, daughter, and my friend and his family ). We have band saws, grinders, tenderizer, etc. so it will be no problem and is actually a very good time as we will be doing it in his basement like we did with the hogs and deer and we always have a great time. I like my steaks thick but the boss likes them thin so I guess we will cut them thin ( big surprise huh ? :eyebrow: :eyebrow:) and I will just eat more. :laf: :laf:
I got rid of my tenderizer cause I never used it . I really enjoy a thick steak myself and have been known to cut, wrap and note a couple packages just for them times the wife is gone :eyebrow:. Good to see others who enjoy doing it themselves and it's the one sure way of knowing country of origin :eyebrownod:.

I use my tenderizer a lot, mostly for deer but my friend and my wife both want some cube steak. I am sure a few of the steaks will get cut a little thicker when the boss ain't looking.  :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
I've been seriously contemplating killing a young bison cow to fill the freezer. That's the kind of "grocery shopping" I can get motivated about!
Nice! Always like to hear of people doing it themselves. Alot of work but sounds like you have a good crew.
Does look good hanging there - just waiting to be eaten.
Jerry
Been a long time sense I have helped the granparents butcher a hog or cow. I miss those times something fierce.
Glad to see someone who still does it the old way

I ate a bison burger once in Arizona and it was delicious.
Hidehunter, my friend is a laugh a minute and he and his family are the nicest people you could ever meet. Doesn't seem like work when you are among friends.
Cutting and wrapping was a family event as I grew up, and also with my kids. Good memories.
Pitw, I didn't know anybody else made and labeled a few special cuts to cook up when the wife is gone or when I get a hankering. :congrats:

OK, they are always saving the best tidbits for themselves while cooking and cutting for a meal so I just figured what's good for one ......................
Yeah that looks RRReal good. I'm eye balling those halves picking out my own nice marbleized cut :eyebrow:
HOW LONG ARE THEY IN SEASON UP THERE!!!!!! :laf: :alscalls: :alscalls:(HOPE THAT NOT TOO MANY). Down here we have to buy those , jsut kidding is a better deal that way have a friend that does that for beef
It's great that the family's involved with the butchering. Brings back memories for me, too, Okan. (only with deer, though). I'm trying to get my kids invloved with it, but it's a tough row to hoe.
Great post!
