Title: Invading Moose
Post by: FinsnFur on January 16, 2011, 10:13:41 PM
Anyone see that show tonight on Discovery about the Moose in Canada, Alaska, and Maine moving into residential areas at an alarming rate? :laf:

It was actually kinda cool. They had footage of one that got into a families pool. Hey that rhymed  :eyebrownod:

There must have been a lot of home footage over who knows how much time. There was Moose at the grocery stores, in yards eating trees, chasing people, chasing dogs, a couple at the hardware store, parking garages, church, running down the sidewalks, up and down the highways, going through windshields.

It was total chaos.
Is it really THAT bad up there?

Did not see it Jim but have no doubt about what you saw.  Hard winters will bring them close to town, the fact that the wilderness borders very close to town (there are no suburbs up here or around Fairbanks), Anchorage is much different yet it also is surrounded by wilderness (one of the biggest bulls I have ever seen was on a visit down there, he was just walking down a street in Anchorage)  This is a link to the Anchorage paper, they have  some great pictures of moose all over town.

I don't think bold is the right word Jim.  The only predator they really seem to recognize is the wolf and we ain't got none of them here yet.  Out here on the prairies they go into town for a bite to eat cause them people plant tasty tree's like apple, saskatoon and such, which they keep pruning making for more tasty buds.  Kinda funny how the cops will get the rednecks to help them haze a moose outa town though .
