The gun shop called & told me my Remington 592 5MM has arrived from a very nice fella over in Delaware. I raced out to claim my prize. I got to see pics of this rifle but as good as they were I was still pleasantly surprised at the lack of wear & character marks on her. Pristine she is. I'm very happy. I tried to get pics of the marks but they wouldn't photograph very well. Altho you can see them right behind the trigger guard & on either side of the trigger guard. I'll have to get Diane to take the pics.
Thank You Mr. Trost!!!!!

Good for you HaMaR! I cant see the pic's here at work (Blocked) but I know it's sweet!
I'll check it out when I get home!
Oh, Glen, I can really see the scrapes and scratches on the muzzle and they look really bad. If I were you, I wouldn't keep that gun, and since I don't have one in MY collection, I would be willing to store it here. Just to help you out.
Jerry
You'll like it Doug. I'm gonna drop a ratty old Leupold 3-9 on top of her this evening. :yoyo: :yoyo:
Jerry-- I just noticed those muzzle marks too!! :doh2: Darned camera angles anyhow. I knew I should have made let Diane take the pics. :doh2:
Final assembly.
SWEET!
But I think it would have been worthy of some real glass :wo:
Did you pick up any ammo for it Glen? Looks like a real beauty! If you want, send it out here and I'll carve Diane's name on it. Maybe even a groundhog to commemorate her first one she'll dispatch with it. :innocentwhistle:
I'm jealous of you, but happy you got one. :congrats:
Dave
5mm Mag ammo is being manufactured once again?
Glen,
I may have to lower my offering price. I just saw where the front sight is all beat up in that last picture. You may need to pay part of the shipping rather than me paying it all.
Jerry
Wow, nice gun Glen. I've never seen a 5mm mag before.

Wow, nice gun Glen. I've never seen a 5mm mag before.
I've never even heard of it :doh2:.
Doug-- My thoughts exactly!! It'll work for now tho. :laf:
Dave-- Thanks. I'm gonna go look for a couple boxes this weekend. Hopefully Diane will get to shoot it. You're carving idea is too powerful to resist!! :nono: :nono: If I would have it cut into you would be the one!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
FOs-- Yepper!! Centurion is making it. They have 2 different rounds out for it. :yoyo: :yoyo:
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM079-5.html
Jerry-- I'll split the shipping with you alright. :noway: :noway: The front site is boogered up but I'm using that crappy ol handmedown Leupold for now. I may have to file a blade out there. :innocentwhistle:
Jason-- Good to see you back again so soon!! :yoyo: :yoyo: They are a 22WMR on roids. Haven't been made since the 70's. NINETEEN 70's that is. :laf: :laf: I read somewhere that only 50,000 were made.
Barry-- Thanks. She's a relic for sure. Im gonna have to think long & hard for a name for her. :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
I havent shot the 591 I have yet, but I'm already on the look out for 592. :innocentwhistle: Nice grab Glenn. :congrats:
I talked the wife into a 40 gun safe this week, I need to do my darndest to fill it when she aint look'n.
Looking to complete the Bro/Sis collection huh Todd?? :laf: :laf: Those big safes are nice. I just have a 24 gun safe & I think this one puts me just shy of 1/2 way there. :laf: :laf:
Heck Glenn, I don't even think I have 6 smoke poles. :innocentwhistle: Just liked the safe, thats all. :alscalls:
Glen,
It is probably time for me to "play nice" so . . . . . it does look like you got your hands on a nice gun that is in very good condition. One of the things that I like is the looks of the stock. That was back "in the day" when they used decent wood for their stocks. Good addition to your shooting collection.
Jerry

That's is great!!!!! :yahoo:
SA-WEEEET! :yoyo:
I was in a local Firearms establishment just the other day and saw where he had some 5mm ammmo on the shelf. t was the Centurion stuff so I dont think he had it sitting around from the 70's
slag-- Do you remember the price on it?? :eyebrow:
I think you would like it VV!! She's real niiiice. :eyebrow:
Jerry-- It is a nice rifle. When one of the previuos owners removed the front blade he could have done it a little cleaner. I'm already thinking about finding original sights for it & re-installing them. If you're ever down this way holler!! We'll make a video of you shooting a groundhog or two.
Todd-- I hear ya!!! Those big safes are really nice!! The other thing about a safe that big is you have a secure area for your important papers & such. Plus that coin collection. That way nobody can steal your lunch money!! :laugh2: :laugh2:
Hey, your on to something Glenn. I can store my call collection in there! Well part of it anyway.
:laf: :laf:
 JUST part of it!!?? :shock2:
:laf: :laf:
I will try and stop by there this weekend and check on the price for ya HaMeR.
Thanks slag. If it's a decent price I may ask for your assistance in getting some if that's OK with you. We can either settle up at the LBL or I'll send you the funds if you like.
Thanks!!

Dave
Do it Glen Do it! :eyebrownod:
Glen can't do that Jim. Heck, all his guns would have Diane's name on them and probably the camera too. :sick2:
Jerry
 Finally got to throw some lead downrange with the ol 5MM today!! I took some nasty pics of the targets so I'm not gonna post them. I'll get the tripod out tomorrow & take some gooder ones. :laf: :laf:
What the ........?
Get er done!
We've been waiting to see what this oldie, but goldie can do! :eyebrow:
Yeah me too. :laf: :laf:
Didn't get past 35yds yesterday. The rain started just as we were about to move to 50yds out after shooting some 100yd 204R reloads. She might be a keeper.

Looks like Diane's got herself a new rifle. :innocentwhistle: A good shooter at that. I'm sure she'll let you carry it into the field for her Glen. :laf: Saw my first chuck yesterday dead on the road. The season is just around the corner.
Dave
Thats a nice group for sure. Does that have a Bull Barrel Glen?
Glad to see ya finally getting around to fooling with it! Glad Diane has a new rifle as well!
I still think you should box it up and send it to me.....
WWW
I haven't seen my 1st hog yet Dave but I'm looking!! :eyebrow: I'm sure Diane will grab that one too. But I think it might be OK. All I know is that if she does,,,, that Marlin 17HaMeR in the safe will have a new 4-12x40 on it & it'll be mine!! All mine I tell ya!! MINE!!!!!!! :laf: :laf:
Jim-- Just the standard slim & trim barrel. That whole rig weighs just over 5lbs. Diane can carry that one herself. :noway: :laf: :laf:
Doug-- I still think it would shoot better with a walmart Tasco on top. :laugh2: I used to talk to a guy from Alabama. He said they could use rimfires on turkeys. Can you use them in Tenn? If so,,, :innocentwhistle:
No Rimfires in TN for Turkey's! But I still have a place for it!
We just use a Sawbriar and a grapevine to catch em!
If ya want I can hook ya up on a Good Tasco if there is such a thing.....

Try wishing on stars Glen. It still isn't going to happen.
As for groundhogs around here, they haven't dug through the snow yet that I have seen.
Jerry
:laugh2: :laugh2: @^^^^!! Next LBL I make it to we'll have to find that shooting range & you can snap a couple off with it. :yoyo: :yoyo:
Actually I'm looking at another Swift Premier 4-12x40 like the one on the 221FireBall. Diane seems to like that combo rather well. Myself I just can't justify Leupold $$ on a RF rifle. A doaner/loaner scope is different now. But to drop the coin on one it aint happening. :nono: :nono: I know you like your Leupolds with good reason too. Aint nothing wrong there either. :nono: :nono:
QuoteTry wishing on stars Glen. It still isn't going to happen.
i know as i kick the cat while :pout: cause there aint no rocks in hereCan't a guy dream Jerry!! :sad3: :sad3:
Whatta know .... it put 3 shots on the same sheet of paper! W/ you shooting it to boot! :shock2:
:laf:
BTW who shot that nice 5 shot group on New Years of "05? :bowingsmilie:
:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
Should I assume the 30gr JHPs are a pointed Jacketed Hollow Point or do they have a flat meplat?
QuoteWhatta know .... it put 3 shots on the same sheet of paper! W/ you shooting it to boot!
Those are 4" squares too. :laugh2:
QuoteShould I assume
WHAT you SHOOOOULD ASSume is they are loaded with the Secret Centurion Groundhog Slobberknockin 30gr JHP's buddy!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Yeap! Those look like some real Slobberknockers! ;yes;
Slobberknockin?
:loco:
So I ASSume they shooooould be labeled 30gr SCGSJHP.
:laugh2:
:laf: YEP!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
My only deelemmer now is do I shoot the 1st groundhog with it or let Diane do it & have her anoint it with 1st blood. :eyebrow:
Guess that depends on who wins the tug-of-war getting it outta the truck.
:laf:
QuoteMy only deelemmer now is do I shoot the 1st groundhog with it or let Diane do it & have her anoint it with 1st blood. :eyebrow:
Sounds like a good time for a poll to me :readthis:
. Let Diane do it & have her anoint it with 1st blood.
. Let Diane do it & have her anoint it with 1st blood.
. Let Diane do it & have her anoint it with 1st blood.
. Let Diane do it & have her anoint it with 1st blood.
Don't forget to cast your vote (for the best shot) :laf:
My vote is for Diane to be the first. I think that is the second item in the poll.
Jerry
Problem solvers!! All yawl!! Thats what you guys are. Problem solvers!!
:yoyo: :yoyo:
I gots me a new Swift 4-12 on the way for the 5MM!! :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo: :highclap: :highclap: :highclap:
Dontcha just love new things??!!
I got the Swift setting purdy on top of the 592 this AM. I'm hoping the weather holds out now so I can sight her in & use my new target stand.
Thru the yellow lens cover.
Does Diane know you put a new scope on her rifle? :laf: Oh, I vote the same as Jerry in the poll. Let Diane shot the first chuck with her new rifle. :highclap:
She came home for lunch & seen it. I think it may have gotten me some brownie points too!! Yesterday I told her if she likes this rig enough to claim she could BUT,, no more Marlin 17HMR for her!! That baby would be all mine again!!!!!!!! :yoyo: :yoyo: If she takes "the deal" as I suspect she will then MY Marlin gets a new silver Swift Premier 4-12!! :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
Was gonna shoot it today but the winds are ripping. They are supposed to lay over night until tomorrow AM late. Maybe I can get out there around 8AM & get things finalized. :eyebrow:
What's the saying: "What's yours is hers, and what's hers is hers.." I believe your .17HMR is no longer yours? :innocentwhistle: Nice try though!
Dave
:sad2: I want it back!!
:laugh2: :laugh2:
Glen,
If this is the first time that you have a case of the "wants it back", you have led a sheltered life.
Jerry
You should hear her talk about MY FireBall!! She talks like it's hers or something. :rolleye: :rolleye:
Swift
Why?
 Cause I put one on the FireBall & I like em. :yoyo: :yoyo:
I guess they work good on those Girl-Calibers  I spect my shootin Irons would shake the glass out of em though
:laugh2: Dick!!
:laf: :laf: I'm gonna take a girl caliber out here after bit & smack a groundhog with it I think.
It took me a while but.....I've come to the conclusion that you need a job :doh2:
No doubt. I'm looking around here but so far nothing. I've sent soooo many resumes out & called a ton of places in the phone book but so far no luck. No body wants to hand out applications anymore. They just want a resume sent to them. I suppose it helps them weed out the useless at a cheaper rate.
I still need to put a scope on my 591. :doh2: IS it about time for the Hawgs Glen?
