Title: Now THAT was a snow storm
Post by: FinsnFur on February 02, 2011, 11:15:45 AM
Been a long time since we got pounded like what just passed through.
Last night around 8pm they cut into the radio and said we were under a civil emergency. I have no idea what that means  :laf:

They also said that if your stranded in your car that police would be sent out in snowmobiles to perform search and rescue until midnight and then they would be called back in. All other rescue vehicles and traffic were ordered off the roads.

I knew I was in trouble this morning when I couldnt get the front door open and finally pushed my way out to find I had two four foot tall drifts of snow blocking my truck from getting out the driveway. I couldnt figure out why my boss wasnt calling me and canceling but I couldnt get no one out there to answer either.
I didn't get no pics of the drifts or the buried truck, caused I was pissed and pressed for time both.
When I finally did get the truck out, it didn't do a whole lot of good because non of the roads were plowed. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to make a normally 25 minute trek to work. Driving through hallways in the snow, literally. It looked like one other vehicle had takin this route and made a sketchy path and thank god cause I did not think I was going to make it several different times during that.

Got to work and there wasn't a soul for miles :doh2: :madd: ewwwwwwwwwww boyeeeeee was I freekin PO'ed

When I got home and cooled off, I finished digging out and took some pics.

The neighbors JD broke down in my driveway. Where was he at 5:30 when I needed him :laf:

This is where my truck WAS setting this morning, we had roughly a foot of snow so you can see how much hand digging I had to do. Looks like it had already started to drift back shut again.

Had to make my way back to the shop to get the neighbor some tools for the JD repair and I snapped these from the shop door. It's tough to tell how high those drifts are, but can you see the John Deer at the end of the driveway out there?  :nono:

And yes it even made it up to the windows on one side of the house.

I can't speak for "up there" but Civil Emergency around here is called a level 3 which means if they catch you on the road and you aren't on the way to the hospital with an injury that they can see, that you will be given a ticket.  There should be noting but emergency vehicles on the roads.

Edit:  That cat should be on the other side of that window.

I've said it before, global warming my a$$.  And where is that fat a$$ Al Gore, not a sound, probably flew down to the Bahamas in his private 737, maybe that's why we can't hear him.  Okay done ranting, stepping off my soap box Jim.
