I decided to try for a coyote this morning. I went out to the farm where I shot the bobcat last month and set up near a beaver pond. The wind was from the WSW. I put the ecaller and JIB in a field just east of the pond and sat on a stool at the SE corner of the pond on the dam. I was looking across the pond and down the dam to the west. I was hoping that anything responding to the call would come to the edge of the pond and then along the edge of the water or dam to get to the decoy or edge of the field. I called off and on for about twenty minutes, but saw nothing. I waited a few more minutes then stood up and decide to walk across the dam to look for tracks in the snow, or sign of the beaver, or just check out the woods a bit. I got to the west end of the pond and this little female coyote came into sight, right to the spot I had been watching from my stand. She was about twenty five yards away but didn't see me. As she turned, I was able to raise the shotgun and give her a load of T shot, most of which hit her in the back end. She started spinning and biting at her back leg and I shot her again. She went down and let out a long mournful wail and died. I guess I should have waited a little longer on the stand, but it worked out for me this time.
The gold dot is where the caller was. I set up at the green square, but had moved along the green line to the green dot at the west side of the pond. The coyote came to where the red dot is. The yellow dot at the bottom of the picture is where I shot the bobcat last month.

Barry, I figure that when I sit on that stool, my legs are close to and blend with the snow on the ground, but my upper body blends with the bushes or trees or whatever I'm sitting against. Kind of like in that last picture.

Nice pictures. I see your shotgun has adjustable fixed sights but you opted for a different sight. I have a much older version of your shotgun (which produced a similar coyote today, 27 lbs. but silver and beige) and since you have tried several things I would like your opinion on something. I use a full choke and want to take this to a guy (Turkey Doc) and get a red bead on the front and the barrel bent to hit dead on at 50 yards with #4 buckshot. Currently I aim a little high. What do you think about that idea. I have never shot one over 35 yards anyway.
The green bead shows up way better than the red bead in the woods.
