Title: Hiring process
Post by: nor-cal yote on February 16, 2011, 08:39:55 PM
Once again I am applying for jobs in the Forest Service back in Montana, I had a phone interview yesterday and one last week. Yesterday they called and checked my references and then called me back and asked to talk to someone that worked under my supervision, I handed the phone to one of my employees and left the room, while he talked to them. They called back in the afternoon, and said that my application is one of the best that they have ever seen, ( I paid to have it done professionally ) and they told me that my references all were great, and that I should hear from today. Its 6:35pm we close at 5:00pm and my phone has not rang all day.

I dont understand. Do they treat you guys like freelancers and then can you when the fires are out and force you to look for jobs?

I thought you traveled all over doing this sort of work.

Throwing someone to the curb in that line of business, you'd think would only fuel these fires LITERALLY!

Jim i work year round, the summer months we fight fire, and do project work for our forest (Mendocino National Forest) during the off season we respond to all risk situations (hurricane Katrina, fires in other countries, we picked up pieces of the shuttle in Texas when it crashed) we do a lot of marijuana garden clean up, and prescribe burning.

I commented your work sir, and I guess fail to recognize why they so easily dismiss you guys.  Nothing against you, dont get me wrong, I'm clearly in your corner, I just dont understand why they brush you off like they do, it sickens me.

That is GREAT news.  The only down side is that they were talking about forest fires getting started last night on the news.  The good thing is that it was CA and you will be in MT.

Congratulations!

Jerry

Well I did not sleep much last night...  :innocentwhistle: My face kinda hurts from smiling for a couple of hours straight. My reporting date is April 24. Talked to my mom first and daughter after that and they both were very excited. The guys I have worked were a little bit upset but they understand, and have wished me well.
