With my limited knowledge I found this extremely interesting & helpful.

Chucky does not impress me in the least bit.
Now, I could be mistaken, but from what I have read of his writings...he seems like an armchair QB. A lot of theory without posting any actual personal experience to back it up.
Chuck Hawks is a writer first and a gun guru second. He, at times, writes about items he knows nothing about and writes as if he had done the testing himself.

YMMV

Never heard of him, but some of that does seem interesting. I wonder how much of it is miff.

Although I agree with the idea of carrying hollow point ammo for self defense, I don't think it is necessary with the .45 ACP.  FMJ Round nose ball has worked pretty well for many, many years.   That big 230 grain bullet starts out at half an inch and doesn't need to expand like the smaller calibers do to be effective.

FOs hit the nail on the head with Chuck H.

"The "dirty little secret" that nobody wants to talk about, is the fact that hollow point bullets will pack up on heavy clothing, and fail to expand."

I carry a combo of hollow point and solid point in my carry revolver. THATS RIGHT I SAID REVOLVER...no high falutin fancy dan imported blended rare metal imported wood artsy fartsy east mojave desert scorpion multimag drilled tapped ported over bored automatic for me  :yoyo:.... :innocentwhistle:

I honestly know nothing about Chuck Hawk. I do know he gave credit to 3 Police Officers for the info in that article at the very beginning. Now if these are real guys I don't know. Since I am very new to all this yet I found some interesting reading in it & hoped others would as well.

Some of it sounds logical, But there is one thing I can damn sure garauntee you, if an average man gets gets shot in the pinky finger with Hardball out of a 45acp there aint but one place he's going.....Thats to the GROUND! I carry defensive Ammo in my handguns and have shot many hundred of rnds of it and while I dont run around shooting folks, I dont have any evidence to back up my theory's other than the critter's I've killed which have been a couple, They couldnt tell a difference between hardball and hollowpoints  The skunks in the hood will atest to the fact that the Speer Golddots and the FMJ do not discriminate....Dead is dead.
