I just rec'd this email and thought I'd pass it along.
It's infuriating to me that these 'charities' skim off so much. You think you're giving hard earned money to a worthy cause, and only a percentage of the donation actually makes it to your cause.
Here's the email:
As you open your pockets for the next natural disaster, please keep these
facts in mind:
The American Red Cross
President and CEO Marsha J. Evans NO! NO! NO!
salary for the year was $651,957 plus expenses
The United Way
President Brian Gallagher NO! NO! NO!
receives a $375,000 base salary
along with numerous expense benefits
UNICEF
CEO Caryl M. Stern
receives $1,200,000 per year (100k per month)
plus all expenses NO! NO! NO!
including a ROLLS ROYCE
Less than 5 cents of your donated dollar goes to the cause
The Salvation Army's
Commissioner Todd Bassett
receives a salary of only $13,000 per year (plus housing) OK! OK! OK!
for managing this $2 billion dollar organization.
96 percent of donated dollars go to the cause.
The Masons’ and the Shriners’ OK! OK! OK!
100% percent of the money goes to the Charity and Cause
And that is the reason that I don't give to several of those places. I usually give to the Cancer Centers of several hospitals where Maddie received treatment and they have used the money for books, movies, etc. in the Cancer Care Ward.

Local charities and food banks are the only ones who get my money, and there are plenty around if you look. All the Red Cross gets from me is blood!
