Title: Rain!
Post by: Hawks Feather on May 25, 2011, 04:15:47 PM
We just got just over 2.5 inches in the last three hours.  Supposed to work at the Fish and Game tonight, but might be stuck in the basement pushing water.   :rolleye:

Later,

Jerry

Yeah it stayed West of us Jerry. Sorry to hear you got it. I wouldn't mind if it would quit for a week or 3 myself. Those poor folks even further West are just getting rained on endlessly it seems.  :rolleye:

At least you don't have to shovel this stuff eh??  :laf: :laf:

Wish I had that power Carl.  :laf: :laf:

Actually I don't wish I had it but I sure wish it was spread out a tad more even.  :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:

We've been kinda blessed.
Big storms coming...it misses us.
Storms coming again, carrying huge rains...it misses us.
Tornadoes ripping down surrounding counties...it misses us.]
Chance of showers all day...it misses us.
Rain in the afternoon, it misses us.
Rain during the nigh....it misses us.

Today it finally rained...and boy did it. In fact just enough to remind me that the kitchen roof still needs attention. :doh2:

Well, the water in the basement was pretty much a solid path from the south wall to the floor drain so I headed out to the Fish and Game.  I drove through two places where the water was running across the road.  The first place had a sheriff's car there with the lights going to slow people down.  It was about 6 to 8 inches deep and then another place that was probably 4 to 6 inches deep.  When I got to the Fish and Game there was water running out of the pond - about a foot above the overflow.  By the time I left it was still above the overflow, but no longer going over the top.  I fed fiberglass insulation into the blower for 3 1/2 hours and feel like I have been in a fight with a porcupine.  Since I left guess what happened?  It has been raining.  We are also scheduled to have another big storm in the middle of the night.  I just checked the radar and there is a storm that goes from Chicago to Nashville and headed east, so it doesn't look like it will miss us.  Forecast is for rain till Sunday.  I may change my name to Noah and lash my canoes together and start looking for animals - two by two.

I feel for ya on the rain.  We just had a frog choker come through.   75 mph winds gusted with it.

We've had so much rain that the ground is saturated.   Take a look at what showed up in my back yard yesterday.  I'm at least 3/4 mile from the nearest pond.

The little lady was laying her eggs.

She's using her hind legs to dig the hole for her eggs and pushing the mud to either side.  Notice the white eggs at the bottom of the hole.

But if that is crap, she was sure full of it.   :eyebrownod:

Neat pics on the turtle laying eggs and that is exactly what she is doing.

I checked the rain gauge this morning and from yesterday morning till this morning we ended up with just over 3.5 inches of rain.

HaMeR,
Findlay was on the news last night for the hail that they got.  Most was golf ball sized, but they had some that was baseball sized.  They were showing the cars with no windshields left and good sized dents all over the car.

Glad you made it thru OK. I'm sure some didn't & my thoughts definitely go out to all of the folks that have been beaten & battered by Mother Nature this year.

The BIG hail missed us by 35 miles which is just fine with me.  Guess what happened this afternoon?  Rain.
