Title: Few more Sept Bass
Post by: FinsnFur on September 25, 2011, 06:59:25 PM
I'm trying to come to peace with the fact that I've only got approx. 1 month left to enjoy this  :sad:  before the Bass start dropping off rapidly, as the ice approaches. You can tell it's coming as the bass activity slows and the size of the catches gets a little smaller.

Saturday morning I woke up in the middle of the night, couldnt get back to sleep, so I went out in the shop and putsed around till a half hour before day light, when I headed down to the river.
I hit about a half a dozen of my favorite spots while most of you were still sleeping. Had a pretty good morning, and was back home sleeping on the couch by 2:00pm :laf:

Had so much fun yesterday I wanted to go back today, but I had way too much stuff to get done, and several errands to run. One of which included going into town to pick up a tensioner pulley for the F150 and replace mine.

The auto parts house was only a few blocks from one of my honey holes but, do I dare?  :sneer:
The pole was still in the truck, my tackle bag still in the front seat, what could it hurt, if I just made a couple casts? You know, enough to take off the edge. :eyebrow:

When I got there I could see movement in the water near an old muskrat house that was created from the remains of an abandoned beaver damn. The amount of wood in the water alone just screamed ...BASS!
In attempt to prevent from spooking whatever was in there, I made a cast from way up on the bank which I usually do before approaching it.
The minute my lure hit the water, something rolled and made a "V" wake out towards the center of the cut, away from where I just casted. :doh2:

Long story short...I worked the area for almost an hour and couldnt get nothing with any size.
Lots of these;

I'm running out of time and in a last ditch effort before I left, I tied on a jighead and wrapped it with a coffee flavored tube. I've never caught anything small on these things :eyebrow: But it's no wonder as they are HUGE!

First cast, I let her fall to the bottom, waited a couple seconds, gave er a small twitch, and all of a sudden you could see the line headin for hoosiers. I quickly counted my blessings, bent my knees, shut my eyes, swallowed hard, and reared back with all my might to set the hook.
The fight was on. :yoyo:

(Same fish, both pics)

I didnt get the tension pulley changed, but I got my bass fix :yoyo:

While I like the bass, I'm partial to that water wolf.  :biggrin:
