Unless you know what that is, or have seen one in person, you cant appreciate how huge they actually are.

It's a pileated woodpecker and the body alone on these things in adult form, when perched, is about the size of a football. :shock2:

I had one out front on my suet feeder last year off and on for several days, and couldnt get a pick to save my life, but it was so cool to see him out there.
They have an incredible scream too.

That's the 2nd one I have seen this year, very cool birds and they have a maniacal call! I wonder if he was after all dem grapes?

I was at my In-Laws house a few years back when one of those big suckers started banging on their Cedar Siding. I thought someone was trying to break in using a jack hammer.  :laf:

Needless to say, they had to replace their siding.  :innocentwhistle:

We got those here in NC on the logging tracts we hunt. Sounds like somebody framing a house when they get on a dead pine tree!
